If music be the food of love, then karaoke is the appetizer.
Join us for the Shakespearean equivalent of mini quiches in December at the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop. Meet Viola — one of Shakespeare’s great drag kings — who falls hard for Duke Orsino. Orsino — whose karaoke palace is the hottest spot on the Illyrian seaside — loves Olivia. Olivia — who genuinely thinks she can hit the high notes in “I Will Always Love You” — is nursing a wicked crush on Cesario, but is too painfully hetero to twig that he’s actually Viola in disguise. It’s a mess. With songs!
Performances begin Friday, December 4 and run through Saturday, December 19. All shows start at 7pm in the black box theater of the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop at 545 7th Street SE.
