PLAY is a ten-week art-making series to explore, get creative, and delight in the spontaneity of…well…play!
Each week our PLAYers receive an activity themed around an artistic discipline, as well as curated content and ways to connect with art and artists in the DMV.
Content and activities are geared to a beginner level and don’t require any specialized equipment, but don’t worry, if you’re looking for a stretch goal, there will also be an optional leveled-up activity called “Beast Mode”. 👹💥
If you’re interested in trying something new, or feeling stuck, or looking for an excuse to make more art, or really you’re just intrigued by the concept of BEAST MODE…then you should come PLAY with us!
Fees
PLAY is 100% free to sign up for, as part of the Coil’s commitment to removing barriers to art. There are fees associated with in-person events, and you can find more information about that on the individual event pages.
Age level
18+: Content is not specifically designed for a young audience, but we encourage families to participate with the understanding that they should review the content and make any appropriate adjustments for their child’s age level.

- Week 2 (Jan 23-29): Sculpture week

- Week 4 (Feb 6-12): Free week + PLAYer meetup
- Week 5 (Feb 13-19): Music week
- Week 6 (Feb 20-26): Theatre week
- Workshop: Warm up your theatre muscles!
- Week 7 (Feb 27-Mar 5): Drawing/painting

- Closing (March 25): Coffee, Conversation, & Crafts!
